Arts and cultural festivals
Arts and cultural festivals in the Northwest Territories celebrate the best of northern culture. Visual artists – aboriginal and non-aboriginal - carvers, sculptors, and painters, crafts people - basketmakers, clothing designers and artists in tufting and beading, and many others get together each year for a week long sharing of ideas. Increasingly, northern writers, and filmmakers are staging annual events to celebrate their northern Canadian creativity. There are cultural events for those interested in aboriginal heritage, and there are ethnic events sponsored by other northerners who hail from as many as 60 different countries.
